Sheriff Marceno was appointed by Governor Scott to succeed Sheriff Mike Scott who retired in 2018. Prior to his appointment, Sheriff Marceno assumed the supervisory responsibilities for the day to day operations, while serving as Under Sheriff. Sheriff Marceno is a 2017 graduate of the FBI (Federal Bureau of Investigations) National Academy.
Sheriff Marceno is a 20 year plus law enforcement veteran and started his career as a police officer in New York and then served 10 years as a Collier County Sheriff’s officer before transitioning to Lee County. His unique understanding of Southwest Florida, crime related issues and community engagement is what gives Sheriff Marceno the right perspective to serve as your Lee County Sheriff.
Sheriff Marceno’s strong leadership and relationships developed with our local law enforcement and elected officials best positions him to provide the safety and security for our citizens. State Attorney Amira Fox who leads our area through her prosecution efforts summarizes the strong working relationship our Sheriff Carmine Marceno and the staff currently have in place.
“As you know, the 20th Circuit has had the lowest crime rate of all 20 judicial circuits for the last six years in a row. This is a product of the excellent law enforcement and a great partnership between our Sheriffs, our Police Departments, the State Attorneys’ office and our wonderful law –abiding citizens. I hope to be able to continue the trend side by side with Carmine. Thank you for your exemplary service to our great state.”
As a candidate to continue to serve as your Lee County Sheriff, I need to maintain a separation between the day to day functions of my law enforcement responsibilities and those of being a candidate.
